3. Use of artificial intelligence
Mend uses a third-party artificial intelligence service to process your conversations in the Coach and Lighthouse modules. It is important that you know the following:
- Provider: Anthropic (Claude), based in the United States
- What is sent: the text of your messages during a coaching or emergency conversation
- What is NOT sent: your name, email address, account data, or data from other modules such as Your Ritual
- Storage: Anthropic retains processed messages in its internal systems for a maximum of 30 days for safety and compliance purposes, after which they are automatically deleted. Where a violation of its Usage Policy is detected, Anthropic may retain data for longer periods for safety review. See details at anthropic.com/privacy
- Training: neither Mend nor Anthropic uses your conversations to train artificial intelligence models
- Consent: before you use Coach or Lighthouse for the first time, the app asks for your explicit consent to the processing of your messages by artificial intelligence
If we change AI providers in the future, we will update this policy and notify you as described in section 12.
4. Important notice about the service
Mend is an emotional support and communication tool. It is not a substitute for professional psychological, psychiatric, or medical care.
- Mend does not diagnose mental health conditions
- Mend does not prescribe treatments or medication
